Editorial Intern

Hampton Roads Magazine is seeking a motivated and outgoing intern for the Editorial Department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assembling the Datebook calendar of events, managing press releases, acquiring images/art, general research and fact checking, assisting in editing and proofing pages, helping with large-scale projects and events and general administrative duties. There also may be opportunity to write small and medium length pieces for the publication. Ideal candidate should be a college sophomore, junior or senior seeking real world experience in the magazine industry. Experienced writers with strong copy editing skills preferred. Internship is unpaid and dates/hours are flexible, although a minimum of 15 hours/week is ideal. Can be used for college credit.

Sales & Advertising Intern Opportunity

Join the most prestigious city and lifestyle publication celebrating the entire Hampton Roads, Virginia region. Hampton Roads Magazine is seeking a motivated and outgoing intern for the sales & advertising department.

Description:
Sales and advertising intern responsibilities include but are not limited to: will assisting the Corporate Sales Coordinator and members of the sales team with various projects and tasks, creating advertising marketing materials and presentations for members of the sales team, compiling sales leads, assisting with sales and advertising projects as well as other administrative duties. Intern will be trained and included in the ad production process and will assist the Corporate Sales Coordinator with proofing ads, maintaining sales database and provide customer service when needed. This internship is designed to give a well-rounded understanding of the publishing sales industry.

Skills:
Applicants should have inter-personal skills, the ability to multi-task and proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. Research skills, a self-starter attitude and the ability to work independently are a plus. Marketing, Communications, Business Administration and other related majors are encouraged to apply. Student should be a Junior or Senior looking for “real world experience” in the publishing sales and advertising industry.
